From the Commander
U.S. Army
Motor Sgt. Engineering command out of Denang Vietnam. EOS 1974
Past positions:
Sr. vice, Quartermaster, surgeon, commander.
District commander. vice, commander, sgt at arms, surgeon.
Goals for the year:Work closely with the National Guard and Reserves to bring new members into the VFW. Working closely with the VFW's liaisons for Ft. Knox and Ft. Campbell. Since 75% of the National Guard and Reserves live where they report this is a great opportunity to bring young veterans into the VFW early.
The VFW has many good programs for young Vet's. your local VFW post in many cases has special rates to help you join, get you involved and keep you interested. The VFW is going through a big change with WWII and Korean vets now a minority and shrinking daily, and Vietnam veterans looking to start training younger vet's to take over. Although our current leaders (by far vietnam veterans) are ageing our membership is not shrinking.
Our new members can rise quickly if the choose. I myself was voted Sr. Vice commander of my post in my first year.

Get them to show up at meetings and see we are involved in improving our veterans lives and our community around us. When they do have more time they will be glad to be part of our great organization.
Also for current active duty the VFW is a big sponsor of local bases. Briefing soldiers of services that are available such as: Unmet needs for family's hitting hard times, Operation Uplink and the Military Assistance Program (MAP)I'm very proud of the University of Louisville with their Veterans out reach program. It's great to see a local university get involved and help veterans.
If you have any questions or need to get in touch with me please go the contact form in our about us section and I'll be glad to answer all your questions the best I can.
